What is an Earthquake?

An Earthquake is a sudden tremor or tremor that lasts for a very short period of time. It causes a disturbance deep inside the earth's crust.

What caused the Earthquake?

The magnitude of this Earthquake caused the upper layer of the earth to sink inward. The top layer of the earth is called the crust. The outer layer of the earth is not in one piece. It was broken. Each part is called a plate. Brush one over the other or pass through a plate under another plate, causing disturbance in the earth's crust. It is an earthquake on the Earth's surface. Most earthquakes are caused by the vibration of the Earth's plate. Weak zones that are prone to earthquakes. Weak zones are also known as fault zones.

The person who studies the earthquake is known as the seismologist.Seismologists use two main tools to measure an earthquake, a seismograph and a seismoscope.

Seismograph is a device that measures seismic waves caused by an earthquake. A seismoscope is an instrument that measures the timing of an earthquake. The power of an earthquake is expressed in terms of magnitude in the richter scale.

Earthquakes produce waves called as seismic waves.
