Statue of
Liberty, formally Liberty Enlightening the World. It is one of the world’s
most recognizable landmarks. This Statue is there on a small island in upper
New York Bay, now it is known as Liberty Island.
The Total
height of this Statue is 305 feet [ 93 meters]. The French sculptor Fredric -
Auguste Bartholdi designed this Statue.
While Alexandre- Gustave Eiffel, the man behind who designed the Eiffel tower, designed the Statue’s steel framework.
Around 1865
, the American Civil war was at an end. The French historian Edouard de Laboulaye
proposed that France create the statue to give to the United States in the nation’s success in building
a democracy.
Actually,
The Statue of Liberty symbolizes the lasting friendship between the peoples of
nations France and the United States. Today this Statue remains a symbol of
freedom and democracy.
This Statue
depicts a woman holding a torch by raising her right hand and a tablet in her left
hand which was written as “ July 4,1776 ” this date is the adoption date of the Declaration
of Independence. The Torch is represented as a navigational aid for sailors.

national monument by the Federal government.
2. The site was added to UNESCO’s world
heritage site list in 1984.

President Grover Cleveland in 1886.
