Chandrayaan-2 :-


Chandrayaan-2  is an Indian Lunar mission which goes the moon’s south polar region .  It is launched by ISRO [ Indian Space Research Organisation] on 22nd  July from Satish Dawan space centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. India is the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the moon , After the USA , USSR and China. Chandrayaan-2 consists one Lunar Orbiter , Lander named Vikram and another one Lunar Rover named Pragyan . Chandrayaan-2 will carry by GSLV MK –III. GSLV MK-III contains :-

1.     S200 solid rock boosters.
2.     L110  liquid stage .
3.     C25 upper stage.



A Camera named OHRC [ Orbiter High Resolution Camera] will help preparing  of digital elevation models of the lunar surface. The Orbiter will map the lunar surface and it helps in making 3D maps of it .

Chandrayaan-2 Budget  :- 978 crore of Indian currency allocated to this mission cost [ approx US $ 141 million] which includes 603 crore for space segment and 375 crore for launching GSLV MK-III.

Objectives of Chandrayaan-2 :-

1.     To study about Lunar Topography.
2.     About mineralogy on Moon.
3.     About Lunar exosphere and Water Ice .



It is estimated that Chandrayaan-2 will land on 7th September, 2019 .
